Sagar,

Thanks for a great product.

I spoke to you over three years ago. At your advice, I used Permalac on a T & G fir porch flooring. After three years of moderate use there is no signs of wear, chipping or peeling; not even at the edge of the porch floor at the top of the steps.

I applied Permalac over a latex based deck stain/sealer.

Wonderful on my stone columns also.

Thanks Sagar.

Craig,

The Real World is far from a chemist's lab and your comments just made the gap that much smaller.

Thank You.

Where can a person buy permalac, especially in spray form? I had painted a number of cows in the late 90's early 2000's and now they all seem to be in need of a new shiny coat.

I am wondering about permalac on top of rusted steel. Will it seal the rust and prevent further rusting? If so, what is the recommended number of coats/application method/thickness of each coat?

Thanks,

Alan King

Hi,
I was wondering if the Permalac EF would be ok to seal my cork flooring in my kitchen. I've heard alot of good things about uv acrylic sealers and thought it would work nicely to help the cork from sun fading as well as scratches. Please let me know if this will work. Thanks in advance for your help!

Colleen - Cork is extremely porous by nature. I really don't think coating over it would be a good idea..?? Others??

Alan,

sorry for the really really late reply.
Yes. Permalac can be used on top of rusted steel-to both prevent additional rusting and to give you the rusted finish.

You will need to apply three coats to give you a dry film thickness of about 1 mil. Just make sure that the initial coat is sufficiently wet to allow Permalac to soak thru the rust and grab onto the un-rusted steel behind it.

Sagar...have been using Krylon for a number of years...it never seems to hold up over time on the sculptures I have created and placed outside in our sculpture garden...Permalac, however, has shown very positive results in the several months that the pieces have been outside and protected...here's to the holidays and many more years of protection to come...best regards, tom

We have been UV testing metal panels coated with Permalac 2K. And the results are in...

I am excited to report to you all that Permalac 2K outperformed a well known Automotive grade clear coat. The independent lab has awarded a grade of 9/10 for Permalac after 1000 hours of Xenon exposure. For comparison, the OEM Automotive grade top coat was graded 7-8 out of 10.

I am trying to figure out what 1000 hours of accelerated UV exposure translates to in say, years of exposure to the sun and UV on the beach. My guess is.. more than 10 years. What do you think?

We will be putting this data up asap.

Good morning from Austin Texas Sagar! We spoke a couple times on the phone and I wanted to first thank you for your help with regard to my project, the plate steel bar top. I have a question for you though; you recommended applying Permalac as the primary coat and then one coat of Permalac 2k as the final. Now the client would prefer a flat finish. How can I retain the durability of the 2K for the bar top and get a flat finish? Does the 2K come in a flat finish?

Steve,
Permalac 2K is a high gloss coating. And no it does not come in a Matte Finish.

One way to get a less shinier surface would be to use Permalac Matte as the primer and then the
2K as the top coat.
